Artworks created using items that have been foraged or found as the subject matter to tell stories about the family and everyday life.

Daddy's Girl

40cm x 70cm - Acrylic over vintage cotton fabric on board

This work depicts two unrelated objects; a child's sock and a domestic hammer alongside two sharp nails, made to evoke a feeling relating to the dynamic between a girl and her father. The floral fabric and rust staining, lends a certain sense of the domestic whilst the two sharp nails pointing upwards, hints at something a little unsettling.

For the Boy

30cm x 80cm - Acrylic over vintage fabric on stretched canvas

This acrylic painting on vintage fabric depicts a homemade toy in the form of a WWII Paratrooper, presumably for a little boy.

I imagined it was stitched with love in the evenings by a devoted Mother after the boy had been safely tucked up in bed and it's raggedy worn look pays testament to the many hours of imaginative playtime it gave the recipient.
